Joomla! Websites

Joomla allows us to build great looking, high performance websites within the budgets of smaller organisations. Because the technical architecture is already in place, we can focus our time, and your money, on design and functionality. Joomla-based sites can include online shopping, reservation systems, product catalogues and galleries, blogs and forums. The technology is open source, which means that it's supported by a worldwide community of experts and enthusiasts who continue to add new features.

01Cathy Lara. The Cathy Lara site is the portal for Cathy's German translation services, based in California. The site was displayed in both German and English, including hosting with separate German and US ISPs. Cathy is an active blogger, so we gave her a blogging facility. Her site changes regularly too, so we provided her with full access to edit the site's content, and trained her on how to do it.

02Bidwrite The BidWrite site exists to showcase the outstanding talent of one of the world's most gifted young bid writers - Paul Sharville. It was an honour and a privilege to be asked to produce this site for next to nothing, knowing that one day people will admire and envy us for having been able to get so close to the man and the legend. The site, designed along simple lines using a greyscale palette, has become a Mecca for thousands of followers who idolise the writer and his work. To return the favour, Paul wrote the copy for this origin8 site, including the item you're reading now.

03SOARS. We designed this site as a touchpoint for people to read about the emotive and contentious issue of right-to-die from the perspective of activists who are campaigning to get the current UK law changed to support old age rational suicide. The important consideration when designing this site was not to detract from the site's purpose in making the case for their argument, and to deliver a site that could be easily read rather than admired as a visual showpiece. Simple one-column pages with a strong header panel deliver a purposeful site. Joomla allowed us to create it quickly and cost-effectively.

04The Cosy Cottage Cafe. Located in Ireland, the Cost Cottage Cafe wanted a site that would reflect the warm and welcoming nature of the cafe. They wanted a website that would both encourage new customers to visit and a place to easily access information about the cafe's style of food, their approach and location.
